General
Did you miss the recent public takedown of Allegiant Air? 60 Minutes exposed the US ultra low cost carrier's poor safety record. However, Allegiant doesn't expect a long-term hit to its earnings. Read the reports and decide for yourself.

On a more positive note, TripAdvisor announced the winners of the 2018 Travelers' Choice Awards. Singapore Airlines was named number one in the world. Check out the complete list of winners. It includes the best airlines across the world, per region, per country, and per service class.

Business Deals
Indonesia's Lion Air Group announced a firm order to buy 50 Boeing 737 MAX 10 narrow-body jets in a deal worth $6.24 billion. Co-founder Rusdi Kiran also told reporters that Lion Air plans to establish a new airline in a Southeast Asian country this year.

International Airlines Group (IAG), the owner of British Airways, is considering making a bid for rival airline Norwegian. It has built up a 4.61% stake in the low-cost carrier. Norwegian has since revealed that the airline has been approached by other parties interested in buying a stake.

Technology
Meet the airlines of the future. The prestigious 2018 Crystal Cabin Awards highlight the most innovative futuristic aircraft cabin designs. This year's designs included amazing designs for larger overhead storage and a concept that gives access to on-board services with VR headsets.

Sabre has announced plans to launch the industry's first Digital Airline Commercial Platform for end-to-end personalization. The new tech will enhance travel experiences even further for airline customers and increase revenue opportunities for airlines.
