Meet the Team – Augustė, Software Engineer

New Year, New Blog! Now that 2018 is officially underway, we'd like to kick off our new "Meet the Team" series. Each month you'll get to learn a little more about a member of the Yieldr family.

First up is one of our software engineers, Augustė Nausėdaitė!

Where are you from?

When did you first join Yieldr?

February 1, 2017

What's your main role at Yieldr?

I'm working on the frontend development of the Yieldr data management platform.

What do you love most about working at Yieldr?

I really love the opportunities to learn that are given and very much supported. Also, there are tons of little things that make this a very welcoming and warm environment to be a part of.

What's your favorite Yieldr value and why?

It's Jump off Cliffs. Even if it's sometimes scary I like pushing myself to do new things and learn. An uncomfortable turn can lead to some pretty awesome discoveries.

What's your biggest professional accomplishment at Yieldr?

I think it'd have to be laying a foundation for the Graph Library in our Demand Intelligence platform for airlines. With tons of help and eagerness from the Media Solutions team, it's now actually used by both Yieldr products!

What's your biggest personal accomplishment?

After juggling writing essays comparing Hamlet with Pink Floyd, investigating the irrational economics of tipping and writing a thesis in algorithmic game theory, I'd say that my biggest personal accomplishment is deciding on a career - in software engineering.

What's the most interesting (or unusual) job you've had?

This is my first super serious adult job, so it's by far the most interesting one.

What keeps you busy outside of work?

Weekend travels, brunching, a lot of cinema and music, a looooot of sleeping.

Which superpower would you love to have?

I've had multiple heated discussions about this. The only answer is teleportation.

Favorite show

Currently, it's Big Little Lies.

Favorite place to fly to

Anywhere, really. But if I had to choose one, it'd be to Vilnius.

Window seat or aisle seat?

Window seat.

Favorite quote from a plane-related film

"I've had it with these m---------ing snakes on this m---------ing plane!"
